Notice of Change in Service Animal Guideline from/to the US
In accordance with the final rule from the U.S Department of Transportation (DOT), Korean Air will only accept trained service animals beginning February 1, 2021.
A service animal must be at least 16 weeks old and individually trained to do work or perform tasks for a person with a disability (physical or mental impairment).Korean Air accepts a maximum of two trained service animals per customer.

- Definition of Service Animal
- Specifically task-trained service dog to assist a person with a disability
- Service Animal & Psychiatric Service Animal (PSA)
- * Emotional Support Animal (ESA) is no longer recognized as service animal, it will be treated as pets
- Required documentations
- US DOT Service Animal Air Transportation Form
- US DOT Service Animal Relief Attestation Form (Flights over 8 hours only)
- Document submission is required and must be done by 48 hours before departure
- Other documents other than DOT forms are not allowed
- Place in the cabin
- On the passenger’s foot space floor or the lap
- Not allowed to occupy other passenger's foot space
- Number : Maximum 2 service animals per passenger
- Others : Must be leashed or harnessed at all times
